Laura is a self-taught artist. Born and raised in the small town of Ica, Peru, Laura developed a love for art as a child. As a young girl, she made art from various mediums and realized a natural talent. In 1983, she immigrated to the United States to seek greater opportunities for herself and her infant son. The early years in Seattle proved to be a time of great personal growth as she moved to the United States without knowing how to speak English. Needing to provide for her family, her artistic endeavors were put on hold while she worked and raised her children.

In the last few years Laura renewed her love for art and started painting again. Without formal training, she took inspiration from her surroundings and her passion for life, texture, and bold color. Her abstract paintings are unique, not being made with traditional tools but instead with everyday objects such as spatulas and silverware. By combining her use of tools with her love for experimenting with color and textures, she has developed a unique style. Like her art, Laura strives to be an individual.

Laura lives in Seattle, Washington, has two sons, a granddaughter and two cats, enjoys living a meaningful and mindful life dedicated amongst other things to her passion for painting.
